NSN: 1680-01-173-0434UC P/N: 182700-1 Noun: Gearbox Assembly SUBJECT: Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the Gearbox Assembly. PR # FD2060-22-00122. ITEM DESCRIPTION Gearbox Assembly is connected to the Main Drive Actuator and the part number is 182700-1. It is part of the braking system which consist of the Retainer yoke assembly, Torque Brake Assembly, Tee Gearbox Assembly, and Torque Limiter. Impediment to Competition: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc., which was developed specifically for C-5’s mission and operational requirements. The Government does not own any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc.is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the CP performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST The AFSC/PZ Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. for the manufacture of the Gearbox Assembly in support of the C-5 Mechanical Program. Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 3 Nov 2021 to Nathan Bissette via email Nathan.bissette@us.af.mil and/or buyer/PCO Kenya Jackson at Kenya.Jackson.3@us.af.mil . The Government intends to procure these items using Other Than Full and Open Competition as prescribed by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
