The Bacteriology Department U.S. Naval Medical and Research Unit No. 6 (NAMRU-6) collects large number of samples to identify patterns in drug resistant pathogens. Samples come from multiple Lima and Iquitos hospital sites as well as from Panama collaborating sites, and Soto-Cano Base in Honduras, under NAMRU6.2017.0012 titled ¨Surveillance and Characterization of the Molecular Resistance Factors of Bacterial Pathogens in USSOUTHCOM AOR¨. Preservation of collected isolates and samples for later analysis under mentioned protocol to be able to perform work in molecular biology and immunology is a must. Data is limited concerning the frequency and nature of drug-resistant bacterial infections in South America, including Peru. This study is intended to establish or strengthen surveillance for bacterial infections in multiple settings, including but not limited to: hospitals, infected wounds (both surgical site infection and traumatic wound infections), diarrheal infections, and infections occurring in remote areas, etc. in both civilian and military populations in Latin American countries. To achieve goal above Government needs to purchase BD Phoenix panels for Phoenix instrument to be shipped to Honduras Lab as to conduct tests and later shipping to NAMRU-6 according to IRB approved AMR protocol NAMRU6.2017.0012
