21-509 Replace Fire Doors Pre-Bid RFI s 1. Are HM doors to be painted? Some Existing doors are VA Bronze, Red or Painted to look wooden. Answer: All HM doors will be VA Bronze 2. Can existing signage on doors be reused? Answer: Signage not part of contract 3. Will a lay down area be provided for storage? Answer: Yes, If available 4. Spec Section 087100 Door Hardware calls out for both Mortise Lock and Latch Sets & Cylindrical Lock and Latch sets, but the Hardware Sets on Drawing G-101 don t call out for which one is required for the sets, please clarify as to which one is required for the Hardware Sets. Answer: Industrial grade mortise lock sets will be used on all doors 5. As per drawing G-101 under Comments for the Door Schedule, you are calling out for Offset Hinge for Various doors, please clarify what is required for these hinges. Answer: Picture of offset hinge 6. Will barriers need to be constructed for door replacements? Answer: Plastic ICRA barriers may be required in some locations 7. Are any doors access restricted? Answer: No 8. Doors 4-7, 4-8, 4-9, 6-6, 6-7, 6-8, 6-9, 7-10, 7-11, 7-12, 8-10, 8-11, 8-12, 36-13, 36-14, 37-11, and 37-12 called out in door schedule are not shown on floor plans. Where are these doors located for field verification? Answer: Doors are located in the attics. See revised drawings 9. Drawing G-102 Door Details not included in drawing set. Answer: Drawing G-102 has been eliminated. Door details are on drawing G-101. 10. On the double doors, it looks like these are either cross corridor doors or stairwell doors. Therefore, are the doors required to be fitted with fire exit hardware? On the door schedule you provided, all of the double doors call for hardware set D. Hardware set D includes flush bolts (top only) no mention of fire exit hardware. Answer: All door hardware are to be fire rated to match door rating 11. On the door schedule, all of the hardware sets include "LEVER". Would I be correct in assuming in hardware sets A and B this "LEVER" refers to a cylindrical lockset? In hardware set C this refers to a lever handle trim for the rim device? In hardware set D, are you referring to lever handle trim on the exit devices? Answer: Industrial grade mortise lock sets will be used on all doors; Yes, set C refers to a lever handle trim for the rim device; Yes, set D, is referring to lever handle trim on the exit devices 21-509 Replace Fire Doors Pre-Bid RFI s (con t) NOTE: Spec section 08 71 00, 2-12: Armor plate information was added.
