Description:
Spokane VAMC is soliciting for a SDVOSB to completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for 668-22-102 Install Eye Washes in Housekeeping Closet Campus Wide as required by drawings and specific. Questions and Answers #2 Can the piping for the eyewash s be exposed? Yes. Does the exposed eyewash piping require insulation? If the area where the piping is to be located is susceptible to water/sweat damage or puddling, then yes. If insulation is required will PVC jacketing be required for exposed insulated piping? If the piping is in an area where insulation is required, and in a high traffic area where the insulation can get damaged, then PVC jacketing is required. Will a thermometer be required downstream of the mixing valve before the eyewash? No. Are there any ACM or hazardous materials known to be present at any of the locations where the work will need to be performed? No. What is the procedure if ACM or hazardous materials are found at any locations the work will need to be performed? Immediately notify the VA and stop work in the area. Will a material storage/laydown area and or place for job trailer be provided during the construction project? No. Will floor or walls needing core drilled need radar scanned. Yes. At the walkthrough we were unable to get into Bldg-1 Rm 806 Operating Room and Rm 531 Covid 19 Ward. Could we get pictures of these locations? Attached. What is the protocol for infection control within work areas? See 01 35 26 1.12 Infection Control. What is the protocol for work in ceiling if required? Follow infection control guidelines. Will there be any Covid 19 vaccination requirements or testing? Contractor personnel are not required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 at this time, however, the contractor is responsible for weekly COVID testing of their personnel. Are all the water supply shut off valves for the existing housekeeping sinks in good working order? Will the VA assist in locating and shutting down these existing water valves? Unknown. No, the contractor is responsible for locating and shutting down the valves. Will surface mounted supply and drain lines be acceptable? Yes Can the drain lines be discharged into the existing housekeeping sink or does it need to be plumbed directly into the main waste line? Yes, drain lines can be discharged into the existing housekeeping sinks. When plumbed into a proper mixing valve, would a wall mounted Eyewash / Drench Hose unit be acceptable? Yes, as long as the unit is ANSI Z258.1 compliant, there is no issue with selecting it for use, where practical. Keep in mind that floor drains may be necessary, depending on the model, to prevent flooding while in use. Clarification request on (Amendment 2) Answered Pre-Bid RFI #001 Hazardous Material Survey Answers states: No, a Hazardous Materials Survey will have to be conducted by the contractor. Not all areas are of concern and is hard accurately quantify for bidding purposes. Instead of adding this Hazardous Material Survey requirement to the bid proposal, can it be treated as a case by case basis post award? No, test all work areas and provide the results to the VA.
