Description:

Original Set Aside:

The objective of this effort is to explore biotechnology, polymer and responsive material advances in order to sustain and/or optimize Air Force assets to include use in air, space, weapon systems applications and human cognitive/physiological monitoring. Objectives also include the evaluation of new and/or modified materials systems as well as new/improved laboratory procedures and characterization/analysis/modeling techniques to evaluate materials performance. Development of materials and processing methodologies to create advanced materials and devices vital to the Air Force is the ultimate goal. Relevant environmental testing and end-user evaluations will be essential components during the technology transition phase. Research areas of emphasis will include: • BIOTECHNOLOGY: Biocorrosion/Biodegradation, Human performance monitoring, Multifunctional Biomimetic materials and devices • POLYMERS AND RESPONSIVE MATERIALS: Soft matter materials, Flexible electronics, Additive and responsive materials, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and autonomous research
