Description:

Original Set Aside:

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) has a requirement to procure “urgent” COVID test kits and controls for the detection of nucleic acid for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The Government intends to conduct this procurement on a sole source basis from Gen-Probe Inc. The continued purchase of COVID testing supplies from Gen-Probe Inc. allows the hospital laboratory use of currently installed Gen-Probe Inc. testing equipment. Due to the urgent nature of the requirement and the currently installed equipment, the COVID testing supplies and equipment agreement is considered a sole source where additional cost to the government or delays in delivery or supplies or equipment, would place patient care and staff safety at risk. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS and no solicitation exists for this requirement. However, parties interested in responding to this notice shall submit technical data, including cost and capabilities, sufficient to determine a contractor's ability in providing the same equipment, and supplies. All capability statements received by closing of this notification of this synopsis will be considered by the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A copy of the Justification and Approval will be posted no later than fourteen (14) days after award.
