Statement of Work (SOW) Purchase of Make/Break Trigger Box for the 42mm Powder Gun System This contract will detail the procurement of a Make/Break Trigger Box for the 42mm powder gun system at NSWC Indian Head. The 42mm gun currently resides in the Detonation Science Facilities on base in Indian Head, MD. The item purchased in this contract will ensure the powder gun remains operational for multiple propulsion, reactive materials, and hypersonics programs spanning across multiple departments. The Trigger Box detailed in this contract is a 6 channel system that delivers 6 independent trigger signals and is operational with both make screens and break screens. It has a built-in continuity meter that allows the operator to check for electrical shorts in the system while also checking the integrity of the make/break screen(s), all without leaving the control console. This saves time and eliminates the need for extraneous equipment and additional pilferable items. Additionally, each of the 6 channels has independent threshold adjustments to help eliminate channel cross-talk. The trigger indicator light gives the operator a clear visual indication of the current input signal status. The trigger box system includes rack mount capabilities, allowing NSWC Indian Head operators to seamlessly incorporate it into the existing control center. The required output pulse specifications are as follows: voltage of +75 Volts into 50 Ohms, risetime of <10 nanoseconds, throughput delay of <100 nanoseconds for a make screen and 1-10 microseconds for a break screen (with cable length of 100 feet). Current technology being used with the 42mm gun system is not only outdated, but is borrowed from a nearby Detonation Science Facility. Procurement of a new trigger box is crucial for the maintenance and continuing operation of the system. A new trigger box will not only benefit the 42mm gun system and its operators, but will return equipment to other facilities for future use. This is a one-time material purchase that should not require future maintenance via service contracts.
