Description:
1. Background The Nuclear Medicine Service is a vital clinical service within the Oklahoma City VAMC to provide care for our veterans. Y-90 spheres micropsheres consist of biocompatible resin microspheres containing the radioactive isotope yttrium-90. This permanent implant is indicated for the treatment of patients with unresectable metastiatic liver tumors from primary colorectal cancer with adjuvant intra-hepatic artery chemotherapy. 2. Project Scope The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center needs to purchase Y-90 Spheres for therapy in selected patients who meet the requirements (non-resectable liver tumors from primary colorectal cancer). This is a patient specific purchase –and a time sensitive purchase (as it is a radioactive material). 3. Specifications The quantities shown in the solicitation schedule are estimates for this facilities requirments. The Oklahoma City VAMC Nuclear Medicine Service is requesting doses and ancillary supplies. Y-90 Sphere micorspheres therapy consists of 1 (or 2) doses to be delivered to the patient via arterial catheter by Interventional Radiology. Dose must be able to be “split” on day of treatment if there is a late, last minute change in treatment plan as specified by the Interventional Radiologist. Each item is ordered on line by Nuclear Medicine approximately one week prior to patient treatment – dates and times of the therapy are spectifc to each individual patient and treating physician. (Nuclear Medicine will place the orders for each dose - which is patient specific)
